Souichirou Arima
Biography

Japanese Name: Souichirou Arima
American Name: Souichiro Arima
Age: Unknown
Family: Unnamed
Random Useless Fact: He has a serious girlfriend complex.

To nearly everyone at his high school, Arima is the perfect gentleman: good-looking, intelligent, and polite, with a respected family. However, to himself-- Arima's a polar opposite. He's insecure, needy, useless, and just a screwup in general. But what causes him to hide that side?

Arima's parents were utter failures at life. They boasted huge debts, were abusive towards their son, and eventually abandoned him. Arima's insecurity can be attributed to their neglect and abuse, as he now feels the need to constantly prove himself better than his parents. However, his idea of "proving himself" causes him to create a whole new Arima.

In order to please his aunt and uncle, who have adopted him despite a familywide hatred for his parents, Arima gets straight A's at school and is the spitting image of polite. Unfortunately, this puts him in a rather twisted fix: He can no longer readily be himself.

This is why he is so affected by the buoyant and equally "perfect" Miyazawa Yukino: straight-A student, role model, and... pretender?

When Arima finds out that Miyazawa isn't quite what she seems, they build a relationship, one which causes them both to reevaluate themselves and pull down their facades.
