Inuyasha was born to a human mother and a very powerful youkai (demon) father. For this reason, he is a hanyou (half-demon) and is scorned by people of both races. As a young child, Inuyasha was ignored often (the prime example being his little yellow ball) because he was a hanyou.

Therefore, Inuyasha had always had a strange relationship with humans and demons alike. Then, he fell in love with the priestess Kikyou, who was guarding the Shikon no Tama. However, Naraku (a demon) tricked the pair, causing Inuyasha's defeat and Kikyou's death.

Fifty years later, he was freed by a schoolgirl named Higurashi Kagome. Though the two constantly fight, it's become more than obvious that they've fallen for each other.
