Random Useless Fact: He has control issues.

Malik was born into the Ishtar clan in Egypt. Since all his family were Tomb Watchers, he was forced to stay underground for most of his lifetime.

He was forced to undergo a ritual when he was around ten years old. After it, all the anger and pain he had experienced welled up and formed his alter ego, Yami no Malik (Dark Malik). However, Rishid managed to seal the spirit when he carved the same inscriptions on Malik's back onto his face.

Yami no Malik could only surface when Rishid was dead or dying. One day, Malik's father beat Rishid nearly to death, and the spirit came out. The spirit thanked Malik's father for killing Rishid (He thought he was dead.), so he pinned Isis and his father to the wall. Then, he sliced his father's back off (the part with the Pharaoh's tablet inscription). He took the bloody skin and threw it on Rishid's back, derisively laughing at Rishid's apparent wish to join the Ishtar family as a son.

Rishid, however, is not dead, and looks up at Malik, waking up the young boy. When the real Malik realized what had happened, he broke down. Shadi, the owner of the Sen-nen Ankh, appeared, telling Malik that his father's death was the will of the Pharaoh. From that day on, Malik hated the Pharaoh, and vowed to get his revenge.

In the Battle City finals, Rishid was struck down by the God of Ra, and Yami no Malik took over. In his duel with the Pharaoh, however, he fused himself with the God of Ra. When the Pharaoh destroyed the Egyptian God, he also destroyed the spirit. Malik came back to his senses, and knowing what had to be done and who had truly killed his father, surrendered the match to Yuugi.
