Perhaps one of the most passive characters in Yu-Gi-Oh!, Rishid is also very, very important. I mean, without him, the world would be screwed because Malik's psychotic alter ego would have taken over the universe. I'd better start from the beginning. ^^

Nobody knows who Rishid's real mother is, not even himself. He was abandoned by a well when he was a baby. Malik and Isis' mother raised him as her own, since she was unable to conceive for a very long time. When Rishid was maybe 7-10, she gave birth to Isis. Disgusted that his new child was not a boy, Isis' father grudgingly agreed to raising Rishid as the new leader of the Tomb Keepers.

Then, unexpectedly, Isis' mother gave birth to Malik. On the day of his birth, she passed away. Rishid was crushed, but before she died he promised to take care of the little boy and watch over him.

As time progressed, Malik neared the day where he would have to face the ritual of the Tomb Keepers. One day, while playing, Malik was bitten by a snake. Furious at Rishid for not watching him properly, Ishtar-sama (Malik's father) beat Rishid. When he left, Rishid prepared to kill the sleeping Malik.

But before he could stab him, Malik begged him for forgiveness. With his eyes half open, he addressed Rishid as his older brother. Rishid was shocked, then broke down crying, dropping the dagger.

Now, the ritual came even closer. Malik started to become so afraid that Rishid decided to take the ritual in his place. However, Ishtar-sama was not pleased and beat Rishid, calling him a common servant. On the day of the ritual, while Ishtar-sama carved the symbols into Malik's back, Rishid carved them onto his own face.

Later, Malik's evil alter ego has risen. He turned to yell at Rishid, but when the older boy dropped the bandages on his face, Malik was shocked back into existence. From that day on, the scars on Rishid's face reminded Malik of their inseparable bond, sealing said psychotic alter ego in as long as Rishid was alive and kicking.

However, in the Battle City Tournament, Rishid was struck down by the Sun God (Ra). While he was unconscious, Yami no Malik (dark Malik; a.k.a. psychotic alter ego) woke up and took over the body. He became so strong that even Rishid was unable to stop him after he woke up.

At the end of the tournament, Rishid, Malik, and Isis returned to Egypt.
