Random Useless Fact: He sounds congested in the anime. Really.

Look, I'm not very consistent with verb tenses. I start out in past tense, then end up in the present. Why? Five paragraph essays, that's why.

Sorata was born somewhere in Japan. We know that. We also know that he was raised in Mount Kouya, in a monastery under the watch of an old stargazer whom he referred to as "Jii-san," or "Grandfather."

As a young boy (and a teenager), Sorata was playful and energetic. He rarely listened to the monks around him, and often snuck off for himself. He stole food from the cabinets, ran away from the monastery at times, and just had way more fun than any monk should have.

Then, the old stargazer (who has this nifty ability to see the future) told Sorata his destiny: he was one of the Ten no Ryu, or Dragons of Heaven, destined to protect the Kamui at all costs. However, he would die for the sake of the woman that he loved. Being young, naïve, and extremely materialistic, Sorata prayed that the girl that he would eventually save would be "really, really hot."

One day, Sorata is told that he must go to Tokyo. Upon his arrival, he starts to search for Kamui, but is sidetracked by Kigai Yuuto, one of the Dragons of Earth. They have a short battle before the Kekkai is pierced and an unsuspecting teenager (Monou Fuuma) comes in. Shocked, Sorata closes the Kekkai and the two agree to battle again later on.

Eventually, Sorata manages to convince Kamui and Fuuma that he means no harm.

When Kamui chooses to become of the Ten no Ryu, Sorata swears to protect him. Then, he meets Kishuu Arashi, the silent, strong priestess of the Ise shrine. He falls in love with her and declares that she is "the one:" the one he will eventually give his life up for.

Arashi is startled by his proclamation, and avoids him constantly. However, she starts to fall for his charm and soon holds him in higher regard than just a fellow Ten no Ryu.

One day, Sorata nearly loses his life in the process of defending Arashi, and she sits nearly paralyzed with fear next to his hospital bed. She confesses how she truly feels for him, and the two make love.

Afterwards, Arashi finds that she is no longer able to summon the power of the Ise shrine (in the form of a sword) and goes to see Hinoto about it. She gets sucked into a vortex-type thing and Sorata comes, insane with fear, and tries to attack Hinoto.

And because Mokona Apapa is evil, I have no idea what happens next. Bah humbug, CLAMP.

I don't like the anime story. I won't tell it. The manga is nice. But it's unfinished. Because MOKONA APAPA IS SLOW AND EVIL X is supposedly on a permanent hiatus. GAH.
