Please note that this is not the Syaoran from Cardcaptor Sakura. Though they are alike in a few ways, they are completely different people. Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE is a nutty CLAMP crossover with tons of characters taken from other CLAMP stories. Syaoran is one of them.

Not much is known about Syaoran, whose father was once the head of the excavation being held in the Kingdom of Clow. He first met Princess Sakura when they were very young, and was her, ehh... playmate, or so to speak. Yesss.

Put more simply and in more politically correct terms, Syaoran and Sakura were childhood friends. As time progressed and the two grew older, their feelings began to mature.

In the first chapter of TRC (Spelling it is such a pain.), Syaoran comes back from the excavation, where he is working as an archaeologist. Not willing to wait for her brother's permission, Sakura runs to Syaoran's home (It looks like an igloo, which is odd because Clow's a desert kingdom.) and tackles him. They talk, and Sakura prepares to confess to him how she really feels. However Touya's rather obnoxious call (in the form of a crashbang gong type thing) for Sakura to return stops her midsentence, and she leaves, blushing.

The next day, Sakura runs to the excavation under the guise that she's bringing Syaoran food. She is mysteriously attracted to a relic on the ground, and as she nears it, a huge white light appears and her eyes suddenly appear blank. When the dust clears, Sakura is completely unconscious.

Long story short, Yukito (Yes, yes, this is one HUGE crossover) transports Syaoran and Sakura to the world of Japan, where they must find a sorceress lady and ask for her help to revive Sakura. That lady is Yuuko, the enigmatic star of xxxHolic. Huuuge crossover.

Anywho, Sakura and Syaoran reach Japan and land in front of Yuuko's wish shop, where they are soon joined by Fye D. Flourite (of the Celes Kingdom) and Kurogane (of the other Japan kingdom, which looks feudal/ancient-ish). In exchange for Sakura and Syaoran's relationship and Sakura's memories of Syaoran, Kurogane's sword, and Fye's magical tattoo, Yuuko gives them White Mokona and they leave for separate world to find Sakura's memory feathers. Without them, she will die. Capisce?

Thus begins the journey Syaoran must take. The first world they encounter is the Hanshin world. There, they meet Arisugawa Sorata and Arashi, crossover characters from X. From there, they journey on to random worlds, each one revealing more about Sakura and Syaoran's past than the one before. Sakura begins to regain her memory with the feathers, and notices many holes-- someone is missing from her memories. And that person is poor Syaoran, who seems rather put out by the fact that Sakura no longer calls him Syaoran, but Syaoran san.

As their endeavour progresses, Kurogane reveals that Syaoran isn't all that he seems-- in fact, he's blind in his right eye. This, however, doesn't stop him from continuing to protect Sakura, who soon realizes that Syaoran and she had met far before their journey beginning in Hanshin Republic. However, just when she has a moment of epiphany, Yuuko takes it away as her payment.
