One day, long long ago, it is said that thirteen animals were invited to a party: The mouse, cat, cow, boar, snake, dragon, horse, rabbit, dog, tiger, and the ones I cannot remember for the life of me. XD However, the mouse tricked his neighbor, the cat, and so on the day of the party, the cat did not show up. Therefore, the other twelve animals became those of the zodiac, while the cat never reached their ranks.

The Souma family was cursed with the wrongdoings of these animals, and so whenever one of them is hugged by a member of the opposite sex, he or she will automatically morph into their respective zodiac animal.

Souma Yuki is a mouse, therefore he turns into one every single time Touru accidentally hugs him (and that's quite a few times, mind.)

Yuki was one of the most popular people in his school-- they called him the 'Prince,' and he even had his own fanclub. He was kind and shy, yet he refused to get close to any girl that came around him, pushing them away instead.

Then, one day, he meets Honda Touru, a sixteen-year-old orphan girl living by herself in a tent on the Souma property. He and his cousin Shigure take her in and allow her to live in the Souma household, provided that she be their housekeeper. She agrees, but accidentally hugs Yuki, Kyou, and Shigure, turning them into a mouse, a cat, and a dog, respectively.

Akito (the head of the Soumas) decides to let her keep her memory, and so Touru lives with the Souma family secret.
